257 Years of British Protocol Expertise
From Royal Palaces and state visits to diplomatic missions in London, Debrett’s combines centuries of authority in etiquette and protocol with modern training and consultancy for governments, courts, and global institutions
Debrett’s is the authority on British etiquette and correct form, and was the first publisher of The Peerage in 1769, a record of the nobility. They continue to maintain this important record 257 years later.
What is less well known is that Debrett’s also offers coaching, training, and consultancy in business etiquette and diplomatic protocol. They have worked with governments, Royal Palaces, Family Offices, and global corporations.
This work is led by Rupert Wesson and Hugo Strachwitz. Wesson explains: “I have been fortunate to work all over the world with some remarkable clients.” He has worked with Middle Eastern royalty on a complete rethink of their approach to state events and hospitality in their palaces, as well as providing communications consulting and advice to the President’s private office of a Southeast Asian republic.
Strachwitz adds: “What Debrett’s brings is 257 years of knowledge and experience—that’s why we are trusted with this important work.” He continues, “We have also worked with diplomatic missions in London and beyond. We bring a deep understanding of the British approach to diplomatic protocol and how this can support and enhance existing practices.”
Debrett’s most recent diplomatic engagement was with a Middle Eastern Diwan (Royal Court). Wesson said “We delivered a month-long programme in London, explaining how the Court of St James’s operates. Using our privileged access to venues and experts, we demonstrated how to run events ranging from small meetings to state visits.”
Debrett’s, in conjunction with Diplomat magazine, is now offering a limited number of complimentary introductory workshops for diplomatic staff posted to London (restricted to two staff per mission). For further information, please contact Rupert and Hugo on E: enquiries@debretts.co.uk
All Debrett’s programmes can be delivered as workshops, private coaching sessions or tailored group programmes, depending on your organisation’s needs. We also provide advice and consultancy.
Our coaches and advisors have vast range of skills and experience and they provide practical guidance based on a deep understanding of the diplomatic world.
